Don't move a Mussel!

                                                 GWITHIAN PICNIC - Part Two

We walked along the beach at Gwithian, taking in the fresh air and watching the occasional body boarder topple into the waves. The surf wasn't big enough for the veteran surfers today.

It must be time for lunch by now - We were Hank Marvin!
So the old wellingtons were abandoned
and our lunch was devoured very quickly, washed down with some sparkling lemonade (not quite Prosecco but it would have to do for today)! Now for a paddle...
There's nothing better than the feel of the warm salty sea relieving the strain after a long stroll in the sand. Plus it will exfoliate your feet and it's FREE! No expensive creams or lotions required.....

The bay is full of rock pools and amazing seaweed for the keen explorer

Stunning colours and landscapes everywhere you look along this coastline
Don't move a Mussel.... They clung on the rocks in their hundreds

                                                       The rock formations were amazing
as were the creations made from the sea and sand - an art in itself
The Jellyfish looked like something from Dr Who...

Time was getting on, so we decided to wander back, winding in and out of the rocks. It's amazing to think that later today, all this would be covered in water.
So back to the car we went after having a lovely leisurely lunch on Gwithian Beach - Can highly recommend it

Gwithian in the sunshine

GWITHIAN PICNIC

Waking up to the blazing sun coming through our bedroom window, only one thing was on our minds - Beachhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.....
We grabbed some cheese topped rolls, a bottle of sugar free lemonade and a selection of cold meats and salad bits from the fridge (Lidl picnic special) and ran out of the house. Throwing our battered wellies and a picnic blanket in the boot, we set off for an adventure.

Following the coastline, passing sheer drops and rugged seas, we headed for Gwithian. On arrival, we clambered into our wellingtons and off we stomped to find the beach, clasping tightly onto our picnic bag. No Sidney Seagulls were going to get our lunch today!
We decided to opt crossing over the small bridge to the left and clamber over the large pebbles onto Gwithian Beach. The other option is to climb the steps on the right and walk along the sand dunes up to Godrevy Lighthouse, but that was for another day.
Once over the hill, the view hits you like a wet fish. The salty sea air and the crunch of pebbles underfoot makes our adventure even more exciting! We can't wait to get our toes in the water.
The beach just went on for miles.........
As every foot step sank into the sand, we etched our way around the cliffs towards the right and then we caught site of the wonderful Godrevy lighthouse in all it's glory. TBC
